Thursday (24/1) at the Main Meeting Room, Lt. II FEB UNDIP Dean Building, National Development Planning Agency (Bappenas) held a discussion forum with the theme Development Planning in the Framework of Drafting the 2020-2024 RPJMN. This event was attended by undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral students from Diponegoro University, as well as students from USM University and UIN Walisongo. This discussion forum presented two keynote speakers, namely Dr.Muhammad Cholifihani, S.E., M.A. as Director of Financial Services and BUMN – Bappenas RI and Eka Chandra Buana, S.E., M.A. as Director of Macro Planning and Statistical Analyst – Bappenas RI. Each keynote speaker presented a different material. Eka Chandra Buana, S.E., M.A. delivered material on “Macroeconomic Framework 2020-2024”. Eka mentioned several reasons that caused the structural transformation to fail, including overlapping regulations and bureaucratic obstacles, the low quality of human resources and labor productivity, and the low quality of infrastructure. These factors are the cause of low innovation and investment quality. Various efforts that can be taken to overcome this problem are to facilitate structural transformation through increasing efficiency, productivity and added value. Improvements on the supply side are also needed, balanced by strengthening domestic demand and improving international trade performance. While the second material presented by Dr. Muhammad Cholifihani, S.E., M.A. related to “Financial Deepening in Indonesia and the Direction of Inclusive Financial Policy”. In his presentation, Cholifihani said that the financial inclusion policy is a form of financial deepening aimed at the community at the bottom of the pyramid to take advantage of formal financial services. There are two main indicators in financial inclusion, namely TPF/GDP and Credit/GDP. The government in this case has drawn up policy directions related to these two indicators, one of which is about policy directions to encourage the development of MSMEs.

Last Thursday (14/03), located in Hall Building C, Faculty of Economics and Business, a Guest Lecturer Lecture event with the theme Global Leadership. On this occasion, the International Office presented Professor Robert Evans as the International Dean of the Curtin University Faculty of Business and Law as a speaker. This event received a positive response from students, especially FEB students. This was evidenced by the large number of participants who attended this event. In line with the theme, Professor Robert delivered material about Global Leadership to the audience. On that occasion, he explained how leadership and management differ from various aspects. In order to provide an in-depth explanation regarding Global Leadership, Professor Robert also explained the various challenges in Global Leadership. Based on his presentation, there are at least 7 things that become challenges in managing global leadership, one of which is cultural differences. To support his presentation, Professor Robert gave an excerpt of how Sundar Pichai as the CEO of Google carries out his global leadership. By showing the video, it is able to provide an overview to the audience about the key to success in becoming a global leader. One thing that is synonymous with global leadership is the factor of cultural differences. Regarding cultural differences, he tried to compare Indonesian culture with Australia based on the cultural framework according to Hofstede. Referring to the material given by Professor Robert, we can see that Indonesia and Australia have very distinctive cultures.

In order to welcome the 56th Anniversary, the Faculty of Economics and Business, Diponegoro University held a series of activities to enliven the event. The peak event, which coincided on March 14, 2016 will be filled with the inauguration of the Entrepreneurship Building which will be opened by the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education, Prof. HM Nasir, Ph.D., Akt. and also the Anniversary speech which will be given by the Chairman of the Board of Commissioners of the Financial Services Authority, Dr. Muliaman D. Haddad. Various Anniversary activities which began in February 2016, will also be filled with other academic and non-academic activities. For example, the National Seminar on Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship, which will be held on March 11, 2016 will be attended by Drs. Sigit Purnomo, MBA (Chairman of ASEAN Bankers), Dr. Ir. Bambang Waluyo HEP, MS., M.Agr (Entrepreneur) and also Novitania Mundayani, SE (owner of House of Moo). On the same date at 13.00, Alumni of FEB UNDIP class of 1986, will give their “advice” in the Seminar: Alumni Sharing. The International Seminar on Fraudulent Financial Reporting which will be held on March 14, 2016, will be filled with material by Prof. Dr. Kathie Cooper (University of Wollongog, Australia), Hendi Yogi Prabowo, SE., MforAccy., Ph.D. (Universitas Islam Indonesia) and also Anis Chariri, SE., M.Com., Ph.D., Ak., CA On that date and also the next day will be enlivened by a bazaar and entrepreneurship clinic which will display various products made by students and also public. Seminar on Dissemination of research results to be conducted on March 24, 2016 at Master of Science Accounting, Jl. Erlangga Tengah, will present various research results by new Doctors in the Department of Accounting, Management and Economics and Development Studies. In addition, a Business Research Methodology Workshop will be held on 18 – 21 April 2016, which will provide various materials on various tools that can be used to improve the quality of research results. The 2nd International Research Conference on Business and Economics will be held on 3-4 August 2016. At this conference, various well-known speakers from all over the world will present their research material at this event. Various non-academic activities were also organized to celebrate the Anniversary. Among them are the Healthy Walk and Alumni Gathering on March 12, 2016.  The event is expected to strengthen the relationship between alumni and the academic community of FEB. Various competitions were also conducted to strengthen the relationship between students, teaching staff and education including Fishing Competition, Tahfidz, Futsal, Volleyball and so on.
