Alfa Farah is currently an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics at Diponegoro University, Indonesia. She completed her PhD in Economics at the University of Muenster, Germany in 2019.

Her research interests are in the fields of Political Economics and New Institutional Economics. She currently focuses her research on understanding how institutional settings at the local level in new democracies might define the limits of agents’ behaviour and how this crucially affects economic and political outcomes.
